“Education releases the potential of young people.” This is the article’s theme and mission statement. The article features a story of a successful business professional who grew up in a village and later went to get a university degree and become an executive at the multinational corporation. To this day, this man gives 20% of his earnings to support a school in the village he grew up in. He believes that giving money to improve education is the best possible investment into the future. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to highlight the work of the non profit organization, Room to Read.
Design/methodology/approach – This paper presents a literature review including the book, Leaving Microsoft to Change the World.
Findings – Reports how an organization can bring about drastic positive change in a short period of time.
Originality/value – This paper shows the value of literacy in developing countries and how we can make a difference through the creation of libraries and bringing books to children.

Digital Divide Data gives students an opportunity to travel to underdeveloped countries and spend their time helping locals learn how to use computers and internet.
